The table below details our base prices and benefits for each level of membership. Weekday discounts, Preferred membership, fuel credits and checkout credits may make flights cost even less. Remember, price isn't everything. Step Up Aviation is all about full-service and the ability to use quality aircraft, NOT just train in them. Effective July 1, 2010 Hourly fees are in tach time except where noted (approximate Hobbs equivalent in parentheses for comparison) [Dry hobbs time equivalent in square brackets]: | Prices and Benefits | Monthly Dues | Included Flight Hours | N141AG Tecnam P2004 Bravo | N140MV Cessna 140 | N1478D Piper Archer III | N238CD Cirrus SR22 | Features - call for details | | Sport Member | $99 | 0.5† | $113♦ | N/A | N/A | N/A | Full service Online scheduling Guarantees and Credits Loaner equipment | | Basic Member | $185 | 0.75† | $108♦ | $105 (89) | $187 (168) | N/A | Full service Online scheduling Guarantees and Credits Loaner equipment | | Premium Member | $349 | 1† | $97♦ | $94 (80) | $174 (157) | $280 (238) [141] | Full service Online scheduling further out Guarantees and Credits Loaner equipment | | Ultra-Premium Member | $789 | 2† | $89♦ | $70 (60) | $124 (112) | $260 (221) [124] | Full service Online scheduling even further out Guarantees and Credits Loaner equipment Lower minimums |
All planes are rented by tach time unless noted otherwise. For comparison, Hobbs time can vary from .75 of tach, to 1.1 times tach (average is .8-.9). For startup, taxi and slower flying, you'll pay less, for high-speed operation, you pay more. This is the fairest way to charge for aircraft usage by multiple people. † Included hours rollover to following months, and must be used within 90 days. ♦ Hobbs time only
Price ComparisonThis comparison table shows estimated costs and other factors for various airplane ownership and rental alternatives. The low and high amounts are estimated to correspond with the range of aircraft that Step Up Aviation plans to provide. The low end approximates an older two-seat Cessna, and the high end a Cirrus SR22. We believe that our plan provides the best balance of cost and hassle factors for most pilots. We hope you will, too. (Comparison created in 2007 -- while numbers may change, the comparison will still be approximately the same.) | | Initial cost | Yearly cost1 | Monthly cost2 | Hourly cost3 | Total/50 hours | Total/100 hours | Total/200 hours | Aircraft features | Maintenance hassles | Accessibility | | Sole Ownership | $30,000-$500,000 | $1,500-$6,500 | $500-$3,000 | $65-$150 | $180-$900 | $120-$500 | $90-$300 | Whatever you want | High | High | | Partnership | $5,000-100,000 | $200-$2,000 | $70-$1,000 | $65-$150 | $75-$300 | $75-$210 | $75-$210 | By group agreement | Med-High | Low-High | | Traditional Rental | $0 | $0 | $0 | $85-$1104 | $85-1104 | $85-1104 | $85-$1104 | Very basic | None | Low | | Fractional Ownership | $70,000-200,000 | $5,000-$15,0005 | $750-$2,800 | $78 | $260 | $277 | $398 | Everything | None | Med-High | | Step Up Aviation | $0 | $0 | $0-$300 | $80-$250 | $108-$220 | $107-$217 | $79-$189 | Almost Everything | None | Med-High |
